There are green vacations that are to larger resorts and there are green vacations to hotels that are green since they are run nearly the same way they were when they were built centuries ago. The Hotel Posada del Valle is a small 12-room 19th-century farmhouse located in Northern Spain. The hotel is run by Nigel and Joann Burch and their son and daughter Sebastian and Samantha.

The hotel is surrounded by its own 18 acre farm including a heard of rams. Energy for hot water is provided by solar panels, they use environmentally friendly products as much as possible and the incredible food is sourced locally. In 2008 the hotel won an Organic Food and Biodiversity award from the Spanish Ministry for the environment.
